The Bible

The Bible

The Bible is a collection of God-breathed sacred scriptures, meaning God’s word is alive.

It consists of 66 books and was originally written in Aramaic, Hebrew, and Koine Greek.

Moreover, it is composed of two major sections, the Old Testament and the New Testament.

In addition, the Old Testament is made up of 39 individual books, and the New Testament is made up of 27 books.

The Old Testament

The Bible is more than a religious text; it consists of witnessed testimonies and important historical events.

Moreover, it has been the reason for many archeological findings and is the source of science.

While these books tell stories about people, it is first and foremost an account of what God has done. It begins with the affirmation that God created the universe, and it ends with a promise that God will continue to show His concern for the world.

Throughout the books, the main character is God, who leads and helps the world by keeping their faith alive.

The New Testament

The Four Canonical Gospels tell “The Good News” that Jesus is the promised Saviour. The one through whom God fulfilled the promises He made to His people in the Old Testament.

Matthew begins with The Birth of Jesus, describes His baptism and temptation, and then takes up His ministry of preaching, teaching, and healing in Galilee.

After this, Matthew’s Gospel records Jesus’ journey from Galilee to Jerusalem and the events of Jesus last week, culminating in His crucifixion and resurrection.

In The Gospel of Mark, Jesus is pictured as a man of action and authority. His authority is seen in His teachings, in His power over demons, and in forgiving people’s sins.

Finally, the Bible ends with The Book of Revelation, which depicts the events leading to Jesus Christ’s Second Coming.

What is The Bible?

The Bible offers us understanding of the world and teaches us how to live righteously and in fellowship with God.

Moreover, it consists of moral teachings for practical everyday concerns, such as family relations.
