Faith and devotion

Faith and Devotion

Over time, our faith and devotion to God have slowly faded. Generations have come and gone since God first revealed Himself to humanity, and somewhere along the way, both as individuals and as a people, we have struggled to remain faithful to Him.

We have been given powerful examples—men of deep faith like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, and the Twelve Apostles. Their lives were marked by trust, obedience, and devotion to God. Through their stories and testimonies, we have been shown what it means to live faithfully—yet too often, we fail to follow their example.

Instead of drawing closer to God’s unconditional love, we seem to drift further away with each passing day.

Many of us wrestle with fear—fear of the unknown, fear of life itself, even fear of love and of God. In that fear, we become shaped by a world that finds it difficult to accept unity under one true God.

And so, people try to fill the emptiness within their souls in other ways—through material things, distractions, false beliefs, and temporary comforts. Yet the question remains: where is our faith?

Through Scripture, especially in the Bible, we encounter real accounts, supported by history, of men and women who lived in awe of God. Their lives reflected deep faith, trust, and love for their Creator. Their witness stands as a reminder of what is possible when we truly surrender to God.

So we must ask ourselves honestly:
Where is our faith?
Where is our devotion to our Lord, Jesus Christ?

Why do we turn away from the One who has given us life?

Time and again, we fall short. We take God’s patience for granted. We turn away, we doubt, and we forget Him. And yet, He continues to wait for us with love.

Some deny God altogether—but this is not new. Humanity has always struggled with belief. Still, the question remains: why do we continue to distance ourselves from Him?

We search endlessly for meaning, often feeling lost, like sheep without direction. Many of us sense a deep emptiness—living without true peace, without purpose, without fulfilment.

The First Steps Toward Redemption

When we place Jesus Christ at the centre of our lives—the beginning and the end, the Alpha and the Omega—something changes. The emptiness within us begins to fade, replaced by peace, purpose, and harmony.

Earthly things lose their hold over us. They become secondary—no longer the source of our identity or hope. For Christ Himself is the light we have been searching for.

True spiritual peace cannot exist apart from God. It is not something we can achieve on our own. Without His grace and mercy, we cannot reach the fullness of peace our hearts long for.

It is through God’s Spirit that we receive true tranquillity—peace that goes beyond understanding.

“You Shall Have No Other God Before Me”

One of the foundational commandments God has given us is simple, yet profound: “You shall have no other God before me.”

There is only one God—one Creator, one Sustainer, one Redeemer.

The same God who created the world is the One who came into it, in the person of Jesus Christ, to restore and redeem it.

When we place other things before God—whether material desires, ideologies, or false beliefs—we distance ourselves from His grace.

In Conclusion

Each day, we are given a choice: to follow God or to turn away.

Faith is not only something we speak about—it is something we live. And yet, too often, we struggle to live according to the very truths we claim to believe.

Still, there is hope.

Our faith and devotion to Jesus Christ are at the heart of our salvation. He is our Creator, our Provider, our Healer, and our Redeemer.

He is our beginning and our end.

Let us not forget Him.

Let us return to Him with sincere hearts. Let us repent, not out of fear, but out of love—because God is merciful, patient, and always ready to welcome His children home.

He has been waiting.

Amen
